BRADFORD CITY VILLAGE

The conversation so far

Throughout December 2023 and January 2024, we began a conversation with the local community around our early-stage 2023 vision for Bradford City Village and asked for feedback to help shape the plans going forward.

During this period of engagement, we received feedback from over 400 people across Bradford.

Getting Involved

Feedback summary

Following the conclusion of the initial phase of visioning engagement on the early-stage ideas for Bradford City Village, an interim phase of engagement was undertaken in May 2024.

The purpose of this interim phase of engagement was to follow up with a number of key stakeholders and provide an update on the progress of the project to the wider public to ensure they remained informed.

Most recently, we undertook a third phase of engagement in the summer, wherein we hosted a number of events at our ‘Engagement Hub’, while also speaking to a range of groups and organisations across Bradford. At this stage, we presented our detailed plans for Phase 1 and sought final feedback before submitting our hybrid planning application in August this year.

Next Steps:
Demolition & Construction

Demolition of the Oastler Centre is due to commence in the new year and hoardings have now been erected around the site to prevent access and ensure the safety of those passing by. The demolition process is expected to take around 7 months to complete.

Following the completion of the demolition process, construction work on Phase 1 is expected to commence in Summer 2026. This work will focus on the top half of the site, with the bottom half temporarily being used by the construction contractors to access the site and park their vehicles. Construction is anticipated to take around 24 months.
